Shore Erosion Control Meetings

Last October, we notified everyone of our intention to conduct a special Shore Erosion Control Plan meeting, but that was a while ago, so here's a reminder.

To showcase the master plan that the marine engineering firm of Andrews-Miller and Associates (AMA) has prepared, we're hosting a special general meeting from 7 to 9 p.m. on Monday, March 8, at the Hillsmere library.

Mr. Gary Williams of AMA, who is the principal architect of the plan, and Mr. Terry Cummings, a Chesapeake Bay Foundation employee and a recent AOTB neighbor, plan to be there to provide some professional input. During the first hour we'll discuss the plan then for the next hour we'll need to gather input, ideas, and -- most especially -- identify committed volunteers to help implement (read FUND) the plan. It won't work without a lot of help from a lot of people, and yes, that does mean YOU!

If you need to refresh your memories about just what this plan consists of, please click below to see the December and October 2009 issues of the PIER: December PIER | October PIER

The community website contains the entire document and all the maps and charts. Just click here. It's a really interesting read, trust me!

Planning Meeting

To properly prepare ourselves for this general meeting, we're inviting those of you with a will to make this happen to a special planning session a week before, on Monday, March 1, at my house (1375 Walnut), also from 7 to 9 p.m. At that time, we'll discuss funding options so we can present the general membership with our best thought-out alternatives. Please understand that, although ideas and suggestions can be useful, this will not work without YOUR committed support and active participation!
