Adults-Only Party Featuring Wine Tasting & Jazz on the Beach
Sunday, May 31, 3-7 p.m.

The AOTB Property Owners Association is throwing a great party on the community beach Sunday, May 31, from 3 to 7 p.m.

Wine tasting will be offered by Bay Ridge Wine and Spirits at no charge to adult community members. Their wine experts will guide party goers through some of the best wines from California, Europe and South America. Wine will also be available to purchase by the glass.

The Jim Ballard Jazz quartet will be performing all afternoon for those who wish to listen or dance. Ballard has performed with the Ink Spots, locally at Middleton's Tavern, and was even featured during the Obama Inaugural. Ballard will perform vocals and the group includes saxophone, base, piano and drums.

Every family is asked to bring a dish to be shared based on the first letter of their last name.

  • Last names starting with A through F should bring hors des oeuvres.
  • Names starting from G through M should bring a main course.
  • Those with last names starting with N through S should bring dessert.
  • Folks whose last names start with T through Z should bring bottled water, soda and other non alcoholic drinks.

Each family will be charged $5 for ice, glasses, plates etc., at the event.

We will be providing a porta potty, tables and some chairs but you are encouraged to bring your own folding chairs. We will have some tents for shade and protection from showers. There is no rain day planned. The party goes on rain or shine. Please RSVP to mlapter@smcm.edu by May 24th so we may plan accurately for the size crowd to expect.

Most importantly, if you are a party person and would like to help plan games like volley ball tournaments with teams based on the street you live on, dance contests or water balloon toss with real prizes for the winning teams contact Marc Apter, Social Committee Chair, 301-904-3690 or mlapter@smcm.edu.

We will also have a family picnic later in the summer on Saturday, August 29th, on the beach from 3-7 p.m. The wine and Jazz party is an adults only event. Put both events on your calendar.

Reaching Renter Residents

The Community wishes to expand coverage of its newsletter and directory to families renting in Arundel-on-the-Bay. Since we do not have a complete list of renters, we're asking your help in identifying those renter residents. Please write our Secretary, Dr. Helene McConnell (addresses on back page) with the name(s) of the principal renter(s), street address and, if available, email address and telephone number. Thank you!
